COVId-19 UPDATE JUNE 2020
LATEST NEWS AND INFORMATION
FROM WIGLE HQ
We would like to offer as much transparency as possible in these difficult times to allow clarity to all of our members, whilst also offering our members something to look forward to once we are out of these difficult times.
We have had to make several difficult decisions, many of which have still to be confirmed as we wait on confirmation from licensors, Theatre Severn and hire companies of scenery and costumes.
Our key word throughout all of our decisions has always been postponement over cancelation. After lots of extremely long and emotional conversations we have been able to reach some conclusions. We want all of our members to know - none of these decisions have been taken lightly.
We have had to consider several things when coming up with our action plan; when we are likely going to be back in the studio with our casts and the amount of rehearsals we would have, how many productions our team can produce in a 6 month window, weighing up the cost implications involved in moving or canceling a show, whilst also wanting to offer those that have been busy preparing and rehearsing an opportunity to showcase their work.
As a family run business, Ross and James are now facing months of unemployment as we wait for our studio doors to reopen. This leaves our household without any income for the foreseeable, but we want to make sure we continue to put all of our efforts in to preparations for productions and the studios reopening over the coming weeks and months. We will continue to offer sessions online for those involved in productions and keep the Wigle family vibes alive. We have created a 'go fund me' page for anyone willing and able that will help go towards the costs of the studio rent and the work that we will be doing. We kindly ask if you use the work we produce over the coming weeks and months and appreciate the continual efforts of our team you make a contribution. Click here to visit our gofundme page.
Below is information on the decisions we have made on our 2020 productions as well as our plans for the coming weeks to help you all continue to learn and to keep the love of musical theatre alive!
We will be answering emails from Wednesday next week and will hopefully have full information and confirmation on all show dates and new ticket information. We will continue to post updates on both our social media and website.
We thank you all for your love and support and wish you all the best over the coming months.
Ross, James and The Wigle Team
We will be contacting all cast members next week to ensure they are able to make the new dates. Unfortunately we have been forced to make decisions from a VERY select amount of dates that Theatre Severn had available this year. We feel it is impractical to continue rehearsing a current production into 2021 and so we apologies to those unable to make the new dates.
Alice in Wonderland - CANCELLED.
Grease - CANCELLED.
Oliver - POSTPONED. This show will now be performed for 4 shows in The Main Auditorium on Thursday 12th and Saturday 14th November 2020. All tickets will be transferred to the new performance dates and Theatre Severn will be on hand to help with this when the time comes. Anyone unable to make these new dates will be offered a refund. Please note Theatre Severn are incredibly busy dealing with customers due to attend shows in the next week or two and will be contacting ticket holders in due course… please await further information from us. Full information on performance teams and times as well as rehearsal videos can be found on the Oliver page of our website.
Chicago - POSTPONED. This show will now be performed for 2 shows in The Main Auditorium on Sunday 8th and Monday 9th November 2020. Full information on performance teams and times as well as rehearsal videos can be found on the Chicago page of our website.
Aladdin - POSTPONED. This show will now be performed for 4 shows in The Walker Theatre on 21st March 2020. We are currently creating information and at home rehearsal videos for the children to keep practicing whilst we are closed.
We Will Rock You - CANCELLED - We are unable to perform this title in 2020 due to no available time slots at Theatre Severn. The UK tour and our show schedule prevents us from performing the show in early 2021 but we are looking in to options for later next year. This group will now work on 13 the Musical.
Full Monty- POSTPONED to 2022 as we have moved Oliver and Aladdin
Elf Jr - CANCELLED - We have made the difficult decision to cancel this production to allow us to offer extended rehearsals for productions fast approaching. We are hugely sad to have to do this but are aware that due to the festive nature of the show it is unrealistic to perform the show at any other time of year. We will be announcing a musical to replace this in the very near future to be performed in July 2021 which will start rehearsals when we begin our Winter term in September.
Moana Workshop - Cancelled. Unfortunately Theatre Severn do not feel it likely that they will be able to open for this workshop. We also do not know what restrictions will still be in place to allow us to run this workshop. We have decided to offer in house workshops over the summer and would love to move those booked into one of our other workshops listed now on our website. Moana will now be taking to the stage in April 2021!
SEUSSICAL - POSTPONED to 2022 as we have moved Moana to April.
KEEPING THE WIGLE LOVE ALIVE
Our action plan will be implemented over the coming days and weeks but we are excited to reveal some of the fun plans we have created….
Wigle Workshops - Check out our ONLINE CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS which is full of lots of content for our Wigles to enjoy.
Dance videos and tutorials - Our Wigle team are working hard to create videos for the children (and adult casts) to follow and practice with. We will also do breakdown videos of the more intricate choreography and provide notes. If any one requires sections to be broken down clearer we will be on hand to make extra videos offering all the support we can to allow at home rehearsals to continue. Ross will also be teaching brand new choreography for the children to practice at home so they are able to come into the studio with even more knowledge than before! These videos to begin being uploaded next week!
Competitions - We have some fun competitions planned to be released each week. Competitions to include; poster designs, talent shows, word searches, creative writing and more. We want to give the children fun activities to keep them loving life at home.
Weekly Musicals - each week we are going to introduce our members to new musicals that they may not have heard of. Increasing their knowledge of theatre and adding a new playlist to their favourites list.
Videos - James (and maybe even with Ross) will be releasing a music video each week. Our members will have the chance to vote for the song they would like to hear and it will be released on our youtube page and across social media. We also want our members to participate in a new music video that we are hoping to create… more on that soon!
Website - We are looking to increase the content on our website - including more videos, images and memories from over the year. We also want to add some of the memories that you may have collected and will be asking for pictures, stories and more to create a time capsule of Wigle love.
Wigle contact - our team will remain on hand to answer any questions you may have on upcoming performances etc… We are hoping to finalise all of our plans over the weekend so we are ready to ease all of your minds and have a clear picture of what the future holds.
Singing lessons - James is busy teaching singing lessons online & is happy to announce he will be offering online examinations for students who wish to take them digitally. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Social media - We have created a new group on Facebook for our Wigle members called Get Your Wigle On Members Hub...
This group will be monitored by our Wigle staff and is a great way for wigle members to communicate whilst our doors are closed. We will also be uploading the news of our fun competitions, videos and other creative content over the coming weeks / months. All accounts will be accepted by staff members when requested to join. Get adding!!
Refunds - We will be reducing fees for next term to include the weeks of rehearsals missed. We are not able to offer refunds at this time for any sessions. In line with our refund policy - we do not offer refunds on sessions where the children or adults are working towards a production.
Our team will also be keeping active on social media posting fun updates and giving wigle kids the chance to have fun from home!
We appreciate these are uncertain times for so many people but hope to keep the love alive over the coming weeks. Please know we care about each member and our audiences and we wish you all good health through this difficult time.
