BEFORE YOU BOOK YOUR FIRST LESSON...
FOUR STEPS TO SET UP YOUR HOME FOR ONLINE SINGING LESSONS & FAQ
STEP 1: CHECK YOUR HOME SETUP
All you need is:
-Good quality internet,
-A laptop, computer, tablet or smartphone,
-A quiet lesson space,
- and of course... your voice!
STEP 2: BOOK YOUR LESSON
Visit the 'book your lesson' page to choose a time slot and to book your first lesson!
You will receive an email from your teacher on the day of your lesson with a link to your virtual room.
STEP 3: DOWNLOAD ZOOM
Before beginning your online lessons, please download and install ZOOM. This is where our online group classes will be held!
To find ZOOM simply search ZOOM.US on google or find it from the App Store.
STEP 4: EDIT THE AUDIO SETTINGS
For computers and laptops: once you have downloaded ZOOM.
-WINDOWS: Click on the settings in the top right hand corner. Select AUDIO.
-MAC: Click on zoom.us in the top left hand corner. Select preferences. Select AUDIO.
1) Make sure that the button to 'automatically adjust the microphone volume' is UNTICKED
2) On the bottom left of this box is a 'Advanced button'. Click to open this, then make sure that the 'show in meeting option to enable sound from microphone' is TICKED
For tablets, phones and iPads:
You're not able to adjust the volume on these devices. The work shop will still run perfectly well so do not worry! The settings need changing for desktops as these devices are more advanced.
STEP 5: PREPARE 2 SONGS!
Before beginning your first online singing lesson, please ensure you have prepared a minimum of two songs which you would like to work on. We recommend having the backing tracks and sheet music (or lyrics) to hand. If you don't have access to the sheet music - please let us know and we shall try to source some ahead of your first lesson.
...it's also helpful to grab a pencil to make notes and a drink of water too!
HOW WILL LESSONS RUN?
Lessons will run similarly to your lessons held in the wigle studio. Each lesson will begin with a 10 minute vocal warm up before working on your chosen songs or / and exam syllabus.
