Our 2024 summer production workshop will see students stage Madagascar Jr - the musical extravaganza based on the beloved animated film!
​
We're thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for young performers aged 5-7! For the first time ever, we're opening up our summer workshop to younger talents. This exciting experience will culminate in a full-scale production at Theatre Severn.
ABOUT THE THREE-DAY WORKSHOP:

This workshop will run from 10am - 3pm on Monday 29th, Tuesday 30th July, Wednesday 31st July from Wigle Studios, 1-2 Princess Street, the Square, Shrewsbury. If you require an earlier drop off - this can be arranged at a small extra cost.

WHAT THE CHILDREN WILL BE INVOLVED IN:
​
Our older performers will be cast in principal roles and will put together the full 65 minute show from our other studio space over two weeks. Our younger performers will rehearse for three days and join them on stage for the following musical numbers:

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP PERFORMANCE:
​
Following the three-day workshop at Wigle Studios - The children will then be 'called' to Theatre Severn 90 minutes before their performance time and stay with us until the performance is over. The running time for Madagascar Jr is approx 65 minutes.
​
We are currently offering 18 spaces on this workshop which will see the children split into three performance teams as follows:
Initially we will open up 6 spaces for each team. If there is particular demand for a particular team, we will look to add more tutors and therefore more spaces in this class.
Performance team A will perform alongside the older children at Theatre Severn on Thursday 1st August at 6pm

Performance team B will perform alongside the older children at Theatre Severn on Friday 2nd August at 1pm
​
Performance team C will perform alongside the older children at Theatre Severn on Friday 3rd August at 4pm
​

When booking, you are required to select your performance team option. You are then welcome to go ahead and purchase tickets for that performance from Theatre Severn. Tickets are on sale now.

WORKSHOP DETAILS
Workshop Dates
This workshop will run on 29th, 30th & 31st July 2024 from 10.00am - 3.00pm. (Earlier drop off or later pick up can also be arranged at a small additional charge - please email info@wigles.co.uk for more info.) Our doors will not open until 9.50am each day.
Who can join?
This workshop is designed for children ages 5 - 7. If you have an older sibling who is 8 and would like to join this rather than the two week option - please get in touch.
Our summer workshops are open to both wigle members and non-members. Children do not require previous dancing, singing or acting training. No auditions are required – just a willingness to give it a go!
What is the workshop cost?
Our workshops are priced to be as affordable as possible.
​
This price includes three days tuition (each at 5 hours) with our talented staff team (all of whom are first aid trained and hold complete DBS checks), costumes for the production and a fantastic performance opportunity at Theatre Severn with a performance on Thursday or Friday. There is never a dull moment in our summer workshops with lots of fun activities to break up the day.

£89.50 for Get Your Wigle On members
or
£99.50 for non Get Your Wigle On members
Location
This workshop will run from our Square Wigle Studio (located 1-2 Princess Street, The Square Shrewsbury).
What does my child need to bring
Children are asked to bring a packed lunch and water bottle which can be filled up throughout the day. We recommend children wear comfortable clothing suitable for dance and drama activities.
How to book
A deposit is required to book a place on the workshop.
To sign up, simply book your place by paying a £35.00 deposit or the full workshop balance below. ​
The remaining balance is due 21 days before the workshop.
All deposits and fees are non-refundable unless spaces are re-advertised and filled.
